K&N's Bradley Morris Dominates LOORRS at Glen Helen Raceway for Second Year in a Row

After every yellow flag race disruption Bradley Morris immediately regained his place at the head of the field.
After every yellow flag race disruption Bradley Morris immediately regained his place at the head of the field.
In 2009 when we first met with young Bradley Morris it was regarding his impressive resume. At the time Morris was a 12-year-old competitor with a race catalog already worthy of conversation. He raced a trophy kart with a 450cc engine and 18 inches of travel back then, and we predicted "With such an impressive resume, so early in his racing career, Bradley Morris will definitely be the trophy kart racer to watch."
The K&N kid Bradley Morris dominated LOORRS rounds 9 and 10 for the second year in a row.

Bradley Morris has repeatedly made good on that forecast in very gigantic ways, confirming that this off-road wunderkind is indeed the genuine article. Admittedly though, we under-shot our prediction, we would have been more accurate had we said, "Morris is an electrifying race force to reckon with, and there's no telling what this meteoric talent is capable of in the future."

Recently we got another big-time indication of what the K&N kid is capable of accomplishing, when for second year in a row, Bradley Morris lit up the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series at Glen Helen Raceway by flat-out owning the competition and inspiring some to chant - "Welcome to Morrisville." Morris swept both rounds in the Pro Lites, and he won round 10 in the Pro Buggy.
For the past two years Bradley Morris has been virtually unstoppable at Glen Helen Raceway.

"Sweeping Prolite two years in a row is awesome," Morris said. "I hope to take this momentum and carry it through the rest of the season. Danny Ebberts and the rest of my team had the truck dialed and I just had to keep the truck out front. We test a lot at Glen Helen and the home crowd gets me pumped."
The broom is becoming a regular fixture for Bradley Morris as he sweeps the Pro Lite field once more.

The immensely popular Pro Lite Unlimited class continues to grow exponentially each year since the integration of the spec V8 motor. Three of the youngest and most thrilling racers in the class today are Bradley Morris, RJ Anderson, and Sheldon Creed. In round 9 it was Anderson and Bradley Morris dueling it out at the head of the field that brought the crowds to their feet. And when the checkered flag declared it was over, Bradley Morris lead the way, followed by Anderson and Creed.

For round 10 it was Bradley Morris, Anderson and Creed lined up at the front of the field once again, totally fired-up for an even more entertaining race than the last. After a number of more yellow flags, two of which found Creed upside down but unhurt, Creed ultimately had to retire. Once racing resumed Morris continued to run away with the round 10 contest, followed not too closely by Casey Currie and Brian Deegan, who were deeply involved in a battle of their own. When the checkered flag waved off this contest, Bradley Morris had absolutely owned the entire twenty-truck field once more, with Currie and Deegan following him in this time.

Now just 16, and as proud as any regular teenager to have recently gotten his driver's license, Bradley Morris says his friends at school think it's "cool" that he's a raising-star racer. "They always let me know when I'm on TV and ask how I did after race weekends," he says. When it comes to explaining his racing mindset Morris keeps it efficiently simple as well. "The competition is tough, young or old they all want to win. I don't try to think about who's behind me, I just race my race and try to keep my truck up front. Finishing off the rest of the season strong and trying to get dad to buy me a Pro 2 or 4," is how Bradley Morris plans to remain focused for the remainder of the series.

NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Driver Dave Smith Raises Awareness with Liquid Hope

The Naake-Klaurer Motorsports No.88 car will make its next appearance at Portland with support from Liquid Hope.
Now and again you can find Dave Smith on the syndicated television show, "The Car Czar," offering up safe driving tips and nourishing pre-race tailgating grilling recipes. The Novato, California NASCAR K&N Pro Series West driver clearly has a better than average appreciation for both driving and sustenance. For over two years, Dave and his wife, Dorine have searched tirelessly for a way to ensure their special needs daughter receives proper nutrition. Born three-and-a-half months early, Adrianna was never a good eater.
Considering the enormous emotional and physical strain placed on the veteran racer, Dave Smith’s on track feats have been nothing short of heroic.

Some physicians believe in the term pediatric anorexia as a diagnosis, others think it is merely a label for what could be a myriad of reasons why a child won't eat. In other words, they don't yet fully understand the causes. Adrianna was tagged with pediatric anorexia and her eating trouble most likely stemmed from her premature birth and the oral aversions she developed in the NICU. Imagine a frail one and half pound baby, and instead of being in the protection of her mom's womb, she's blasted with intense light and loud noises. Every touch is painful. She can't breathe on her own and her tiny face is jam-packed with tubes going into her nose, taped down so that they can't be dislodged. The tubes keep her alive, yet she grows to hate them. Eventually she can't tolerate anything near her face, not even a bottle or food. This was Adrianna's complicated start in life.
Adrianna has shown tremendous improvements in her weight gain and overall wellbeing since starting Liquid Hope.
Adrianna has shown tremendous improvements in her weight gain and overall wellbeing since starting Liquid Hope.

Shortly after her first birthday, the Smith's were forced to have a feeding tube surgically placed in Adrianna's stomach so that they could feed her. The problem got exasperated because the insurance company recommended commercial formulas that are filled with sugar, corn syrup and chemicals. It was the equivalent of stuffing Adrianna with high sugar content soft drinks, five times a day, and expecting her to get healthier. Adrianna wasn't taking to the feeding tube formula, and Dave and Dorine were getting desperate. Then they discovered something called "Liquid Hope."
Thanks to Liquid Hope Adrianna will soon be able to enjoy playing with her one-year-old sister Aline.

The Smith's found out about Liquid Hope, crafted by Functional Formularies, through an online group of parents who have children with feeding difficulties. After years of searching for better nutrition, they were overjoyed to find a product they felt good about feeding their daughter through her feeding tube. Functional Formularies' feeding-tube formula consists of nothing but "real" food - nutritionally dense, vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free, GMO-free whole food, with complex carbohydrates and no sugar added.

Eternally grateful for Functional Formularies, the veteran racer is using his No. 88 iON Cameras/Sonoma Harvest Chevy to raise awareness and promote a healthy feeding tube formula, by placing the life changing company's logo on his racecar. 750,000 children in the U.S. have severe feeding struggles. Proper nutrition is a vital function for survival and development. When children are unable to eat, they can't thrive cognitively, physically, or emotionally. Difficulty feeding is often an underlying symptom for such conditions as autism, cystic fibrosis, cerebral palsy, and congenital heart defects.

"My fellow competitors are very supportive of my daughter's situation," said Smith. "I enjoy the awareness NASCAR creates for special needs children, especially those born premature or who are tube feeding reliant. Those causes are very close to my heart because of what my family has been through. NASCAR strives to find diversity in their racers and so our new Liquid Hope partnership is being well received at the track, especially because it relates to people who are different."

Adrianna has shown great improvements in her weight gain since starting Liquid Hope. Her vocabulary is rapidly expanding and she no longer complains about her "tummy hurting." "Most exciting, her willingness to eat is emerging - we know we are doing something right!" adds Dorine. The Smiths are hopeful their daughter will be free of the dependency of her feeding tube before she starts kindergarten. Their intensive daily therapy schedule is aggressively working towards that goal.

The Naake-Klaurer Motorsports No.88 car will run again at Portland next month with support from Liquid Hope. There are also plans for Smith to drive in the Daytona 24 Hour endurance race, but details haven't yet been finalized.

Adrian Sotelo's Highly Custom 2006 Pontiac GTO is Packed with Performance Modifications

This custom 2006 Pontiac GTO has K&N air intake 63-3053
When you think of modern muscle cars, what is one car that always comes to mind? For me, it's the Pontiac GTO, or also referred to as the "Goat". It has baffled me and I always ask, why did GM scrap the project?
Adrian Sotelo is more of a horsepower guy and he enjoys spending time working on his Pontiac GTO or taking it to the track.
Adrian Sotelo is more of a horsepower guy and he enjoys spending time working on his Pontiac GTO or taking it to the track.

Recently, at a car show in El Paso Texas, I stumbled across a 2006 Pontiac GTO owned by Adrian Sotelo. I could see myself sitting behind the wheel of this powerhouse waiting for the "Christmas Tree" starting lights to flash green. Well.. that wasn't happening, but I had to find the owner of this ride and tell him how much of a fan I am of the Modern GTO. As I explained how I felt, all he could do was laugh and tell me it was his dream car.

Adrian told me that he wasn't as much of a car show enthusiast as he is a horsepower guy. He just really enjoys spending all his free time working on his car or taking it to the track. Adrian explained that most of the modifications on his Pontiac GTO were not really noticeable, but they are definitely there. His list of modifications include 1-7/8 Kooks long tube headers, cat-less mid pipes, 3" exhaust and Kooks mufflers, custom air brushed hood, Cortex superchip programmer, 18" rims staggered 18x8 front 18x9 rear, R1 Concept performance rotors and, last but not least, a K&N performance air intake 63-3053.

When asked Adrian why he chose a K&N air intake, he simply said that everybody at the track recommended it and K&N has the best warranty out there and their product is known world-wide.

As we were discussing the process of building this performance modified Pontiac GTO, I asked Adrian what he would concider the most difficult part. He said it was the Kook's Headers, not because of the brand, but with almost any long tube headers, you have to remove the motor mounts, tilt the engine and lower the steering box. Adrian also went on to mention it was definitely worth the time and really enjoyed installing them.

You would never have guessed that this was the first car Adrian Sotelo had ever purchased; he has proven that even if you're young, you can still build the car of your dreams with enough, blood, sweat and tears. Great job on the build Adrian and we are glad to see you pursuing your passion of fast cars!

After being medically retired from the Army, Julio Torres wanted to do something that would honor those who have lost their lives while serving our country. Building off of his 2004 Pontiac GTO he built his version of Captain America. It won't take long to see that Julio has a lot of passion in this build. While talking with Julio a recent car show in El Paso Texas, I noticed he has a tattoo on his arm that matches the design on the door of his GTO. I looked closer and realized it's the Army symbol for the fallen soldier and Captain Americas Shield.

I asked Julio about the symbolism behind the image. "After being deployed multiple times to Iraq and Afghanistan, and losing several good friends during combat, I wanted to do a tribute to them," he told me. "I didn't do it just for them, but for all fallen soldiers and heroes that are gone but not forgotten. What better way to remember our brothers in arms then a show car built by a wounded veteran himself."

Julio Torres had his official Purple Heart proudly on display by his car. This man is truly a hero and should be honored for his service and all he has done to protect our great country. All I wanted to do was thank him for his service.

After getting past the sentimental parts, I realized, with the numerous modifications Julio made to this ride, he didn't cut a single corner. He even reversed the hood to properly display his mural of Captain America. Every part of this 2004 Pontiac GTO was shined to a perfect luster like the Army would have demanded, even down to his K&N performance air intake 57-3044.

I asked Julio why he decided to use K&N's Pontiac GTO air intake system. "I used K&N products for its reputation and the fact that I want to work on my engine," Julio explained. He had certain expectations he knew a K&N air intake would meet. "First by adding horse power and looks... What better way to kill 2 birds with 1 stone then a K&N cold air intake! You get more power and a great look to a stock engine!"
Julio Torres has received numorous trophies for his modified Captain America Pontiac GTO.
Julio Torres has received numerous trophies for his modified Captain America Pontiac GTO.
Julio not only uses K&N for his GTO air intake but his ride is also equipped with K&N's HP-1007 oil filter for Pontiac GTO. Julio says his K&N oil filter is one of the most important parts of his build because oil is the "blood of the motor", and if it isn't clean, your motor will soon turn unreliable.

I asked Julio to name a few other custom modifications made to his 2004 Pontiac GTO. "The exterior has a RK sport polyurethane body kit, CBK carbon fiber hood, vertical doors, TSW 18 inch wheels wrapped with 245/40-18 tires in the front and 295/45-18 tires in the rear and R1 drilled slotted rotors. The interior has 2 headrest TVs, 2 visor TVs and the trunk has a custom box to fit 2-12inch Kicker L7 subwoofers, a Kicker ZXS1500.1 amp . Under the hood it has K&N performance cold air intake, MSD spark plug wires with NKG spark plugs, silicone hoses, upgraded fuel injectors, Super Chip tuner, complete SLP headers and SLP loudmouth exhaust system and a 200 shot of NOS".

As you can see, this soldiers ride is a rolling tribute to all those that have died serving our country. Even though Julio Torres is retired, this service man continues to give back to his country!
